On 15.06.2021, a delegation of subscribers held a meeting with the management of the Christoph Merian Foundation (CMS) to reiterate the concerns of those wishing to swim and to discuss solution options. The solution proposed by CMS foresees that the swimming hall be sublet to the canton (as is currently the case), but that the canton (according to the plan) let a designated association operate the hall on a contractually regulated basis. According to CMS, this association has more freedom of action to open the hall to third parties. In order to enable access to the hall for former subscribers (and other interested parties), CMS believes that the establishment of a legal contact partner for the Basel Swimming Association would be more effective than negotiations by individuals or delegations. CMS proposal was to also found an association.
